PUBLICATION: THE PHENOMENON OF ARTS RESIDENCIES IN V4 COUNTRIES

We are happy to share the result of the research, which we have been working on together with Teatr A Part, L1 Association and Tabačka Kulturfabrik since last year as part of the project Connecting V4 ART-IN-RES. The project’s aim was to map the current situation of arts residency practice in V4 countries with a focus on performing arts. In the publication, you will learn more about the arts residencies in the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia, including examples of host organisations.

Are you wondering what artist-in-residence means? What are the benefits and impacts of arts residencies? Do you want to know how residency centres are financed? Or do you want to know where to go with your project to get inspiration, make contacts, develop your project and gain new experiences or skills? In the publication, you will learn more about the arts residencies in the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia, including examples of host organisations.

PUBLICATION SHOULD SERVE:
general public interested in the meaning of arts residencies artists and culture professionals in search of arts residencies in V4 countries professional public in debates with the public authorities when lobbying for the practice of arts residencies decision-makers and cultural policy-makers as a basis for further steps towards the development of cultural mobility and arts residencies
Despite being a widely used tool to support creativity, mobility and international cooperation, the benefits of arts residencies are still undervalued. We believe that this publication, too, will contribute to improving the state of support of arts residencies and changing cultural practice in general.
